CAMELLIA Sasanqua 'Plantation Pink'

Very early producing pastel pink single flowers with a sweet fragrance  which usually performs on schedule in early November through to March or April this is an evergreen shrub. Camellias can form small trees or Tall shrubs.

Hardiness Rating

Fully hardy to Frost tender - Plant can withstand temperatures down to -15°C (5°F) but plants could be possibly damaged below 5°C (41°F)
The overall height and width of the plant once mature is:
Height - in metres - 2 - 5m (6 - 15ft)
Spread - in metres - 1 - 3m (3 - 10ft)
This is an Acid Loving plant that likes a moist, fertile, well drained soil and it's prefered location is in partial shade.

 

ACACIA baileyana

ACACIA baileyana has fluffy bright yellow mimosa flowers and fine silvery-grey foliage, it's
evergreen  fern-like, 2 pinnate leaves 5cm (2in) long, which are composed of 16-40 tiny, linear leaflets.
Tall Shrub or small tree or even a large shrub with spreading, dense branches that produce small flower heads in dense axillary racemes 7-10cm (3-4in) long.
This is a half hardy plant that can withstand temperatures down to 0°C (32°F) It will grow outside in milder locations and this could include plants which would survive happily in a greenhouse or conservatory if not in a mild location. If you have a sheltered spot in your garden then it may do well there. A loam based compost is ideal for greenhouse growing of this plant but it must have plenty of light.

The overall height and width of the plant once it has matured is:
Height - in metres - 5-8m (15-25ft)

Spread - in metres - 3-6m (10-20ft)

It must have a fertile well drained soil that is Neutral to acid.
Plant Acacia baileyana in a sheltered site but in full sun.

 

ARGYRANTHEMUM
frutescens
'LARITA ROSE'

ARGYRANTHEMUM frutescens 'LARITA ROSE' has vibrant pink flowers with double centres held on a dwarf, compact, herbaceous subshrub, with evergreen foliage. It is a half hardy plant that can withstand temperatures down to 0°C (32°F)

The plant  has an overall height and spread once mature of 70cm (28in)

Plant in full sun in well drained to dry, poor to moderately fertile soil.

To change centre piece during the season plant an empty pot in the centre display


Then plant the bedding around the pot.

Place a potted plant in the centeral container
When the centre plant finishes flowering replace with another that is in bloom.( Sysirinchium 'E K Balls' )
Gravel over to disguise the central pot and prevent weed growth

Has that old bird bath had it's day. Why not plant it up with Alpines.             Don't forget the drainage holes.
